The "Understanding China" (Guangzhou) International Conference was co-sponsored by the National Innovation and Development Strategy Research Association in conjunction with the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, the People's Government of Guangdong Province and the 21st Century Council, and was undertaken by the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government. The conference centered on the theme of "New Round of Economic Globalization and China's Reform and Opening up" to commemorate the first anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping's inspection of Guangdong and his proposal of "Reform and Opening up again". The conference conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges with regard to the world economy and China's economic outlook, the "Belt and Road" industrial cooperation, the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area, new prospects for digital economy and global cooperation, as well as China's financial opening up with the world financial markets.
As of December 2018, the "Understanding China" International Conference had been successfully held in Beijing for three sessions. At the third International Conference on "Understanding China", Mr. Zheng Bijian, President of the National Research Society for Innovation and Development Strategy, sent an invitation to the guests: “The future conference will not only be held in Beijing. Reform and opening up started in Guangdong. See you next year in Guangdong”. In October, representatives of politicians, strategists and entrepreneurs from many countries of the world arrived as expected and gathered in Guangzhou to discuss the prospects of a new round of economic globalization. At the forefront of China’s reform and opening up, the participants felt for themselves the firm pace of steps on China’s reform and opening up, understanding China together.
President Xi Jinping sent congratulatory letter to "Understanding China" (Guangzhou) International Conference 2019. He pointed out that at present, economic globalization is experiencing some ups and downs, but the trend of economic globalization is irreversible. The interests of all countries are increasingly blending, and the destiny is becoming more common. It is the general trend of people to create a better life. China is the beneficiary and contributor of economic globalization. It will unswervingly follow the path of peaceful development, pursue a mutually beneficial and win-win opening strategy, continue to add momentum to the development of an open world economy, work with people around the world to promote economic globalization, develop in a more open, inclusive and balanced direction, let economic globalization better benefit the peoples of the world.

On the evening of the 26th, the lights shimmered on both sides of the Pearl River. The "Understanding China" (Guangzhou) International Conference Closing Dinner Gala presented a splendid performance integrating Chinese Cantonese cultural features for the Chinese and foreign guests, and showed everyone a vibrant and charming Guangzhou.
This grand performance was another international cultural event undertaken by Guangzhou Acrobatic Arts Theater after the 2017 Guangzhou "Fortune" Global Forum Welcome Reception Gala Performance. Under the full trust and careful guidance of governments at all levels, the performance team and various governmental departments had sincerely cooperated to successfully complete the performance task.
